Academia Montis Regalis
The “Academia Montis Regalis” Onlus Foundation was created in 1992 in Mondovì, its current headquarters, and in 1994 it was recognized by the Piedmont Region.
The Foundation has been involved in Baroque orchestral training since 1993 and has had professors such as Barthold and Sigiswald Kujiken, Ton Koopman, J. Savall, E. Gatti, C. Coin, E. Onofri, L. Mangiocavallo, C. Rousset, A. De Marchi, A. Beyer. The seat of the Institute foundation can be used not only for lessons, but also for residential purposes.
In 1994, the Foundation established Mondovì for the Baroque and Classical Orchestral Training Courses, with the aim of offering young talented Italian and foreign musicians the chance to have a unique experience in Italy in the field of six-eighteenth century music, expressed according to historical criteria and with the use of original instruments. From this initiative the Academia Montis Regalis Orchestra was born, considered today one of the best orchestras with ancient instruments at international level.
Since the musical training activity remains an important goal for the Foundation, it was decided to continue in parallel the educational experience for young people and give life to a second orchestra the Youth Orchestra of the Montis Regalis structured according to the formula of the scholarships of study and divided into five cycles per season, entrusted to internationally renowned teachers.
Still in the field of musical education, the Foundation manages (in collaboration with the Municipality of Mondovì) the Municipal Music School which for over 30 years has guaranteed the musical culture in the Monregalese with over 300 members and an established White Voice Choir.
The Foundation also organizes the Festival of the Saracens of Pamparato, an important six-eighteenth century music festival that takes place in the Piedmont area in the summer.
