The Foundation Academia Montis Regalis was founded in 1992 in Mondovì, Italy, where it has its current headquarters. It originated from the valuable experience of the well known Cordero di Pamparato Institute of Antique Music and in 1994, it was officially recognized as a non-profit organisation by Piedmont’s Regional Government.
In 1994 the Foundation also established in Mondovì its Orchestral Courses in Baroque and Classical Music, to give young talented musicians from Italy and abroad the opportunity to live a unique experience in the field of music from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, performed according to historical criteria and using original instruments.
The Academia Montis Regalis Orchestra stemmed from this initiative and it is internationally considered one of the best Early Music orchestras with original instruments.
As education initiatives are the cornerstone of the Foundation’s mission, I giovani della Montis Regalis Youth Orchestra was established, structured around a scholarship system and developed into five cycles per season under the supervision of internationally renowned teachers.
In collaboration with Mondovì City Hall, the Foundation manages the Municipal Music School Scuola Comunale di Musica, which has been promoting musical culture in the area for over 40 years, with over 300 students and a well-respected Children’s Choir.
The Foundation organizes Mondovimusica, a rich program of concerts covering different music genres from October to June every year in Mondovì and the Festival dei Saraceni di Pamparato, a well established Early Music Festival in Mondovì and the stunning Val Casotto area.
Academia Montis Regalis is partner of Intrecci Barocchi with Musici di Santa Pelagia, Accademia Corale Stefano Tempia e Coro Maghini.
